American Express recently kicked off their Members Project, an online initiative that invites card members to submit ideas for projects to make a positive impact on the world. And it's not just about ideas; it's about all participants galvanizing their own personal networks - friends, family members, colleagues - to get behind the causes that are meaningful to them. The winning projects will share $2.5 million in funding from American Express.

Our project has been approved and we are asking all of you to help us in this two-step process:

First, it's critical that we gather as many nominations as possible. So please go to our project page by August 19 to nominate Blue Planet Run Foundation's project "Water Is Life. Pass It On." (You do not have to be an American Express card member, but you do need to log in. If you need to search to find our project, search for "Water is life.") Discussing and adding comments will help us a lot, and there are more tools you can use if you want other ways to promote the project!

Once the nominations are submitted, the American Express Advisory Panel will decide on the Top 25 Projects. If we make it into the top 25, voting by the public begins September 9 to determine which cause will receive the funding. We will alert you to ask you to vote again and hope you will help by sending the email to everybody you know!

As a point of interest, American Express provided survey results which showed that 96 percent of Americans feel now, more than ever, the world needs great ideas to make a positive difference; 92 percent of Americans surveyed said that they believe in the power of ideas to help change the world.

This is a great opportunity to do something very simple to help many human beings in need get the lifetime of safe drinking water they deserve. Please take a minute to help us reach our goal.
