Blue Planet Runners Honored By Runner's World as Heroes of Running 2007

Runner’s World magazine, the worldwide authority on running information, announced its fourth annual Heroes of Running, featured in the December 2007 issue on newsstands October 30. The Blue Planet Runners, designated “the Environmentalists,” are proud to be among the 34 honored runners, including Madonna Buder, Ted Corbitt, Ryan Hall, and Amy Palmiero-Winters.

“Each of these Heroes is living proof that running has the capacity to transform our minds and spirits, and the ability to improve the lives of others,” said Runner’s World Editor-in-Chief David Willey, who initiated the Heroes of Running in 2004. “Running is more than a trim physique or a finisher’s medal; it brings people and communities together, allows for positive change and reflects the amazing feats people are capable of when faced with a challenge.”

Accepting the award on behalf of all 22 Blue Planet Runners were Brynn Harrington, Dot Helling, Rudy Van Prooyen and BPR Founder Jin Zidell. According to Dot, “Every one in the room was inspired not only by the athletic performances of the individuals but by each one’s commitment in their own way to helping others and making the world a better place, and by each individual’s mental stamina and focus.” Blue Planet Run Foundation is honored that the Runners were recognized by Runner's World and are proud of their incredible feat.
