I'm going to miss the team, my new family! One of the wishes I have is that we'd had more time with individual team members who have not, for instance, been with me on Team Green or Team Silver. I know other team members share this sentiment. We have seen and observed great wonders, great lakes, and many other great things. But the whir of our pace has not allowed us enough quality time with all of the great people associated with this run. Sad but some of us won't get that time into the future because we travel different roads. Some of us will. And some of us will be lasting friends who will make it a point to stay connected and see each other. We all have a major adjustment to make in returning to the real world after our nomadic existence of the past three months and our solo focus, the Blue Planet Run, a far cry from our usual multi-tasking.
This morning was my final night run. Hallelujah! It was appearing it would become one of my longest even with the full moon over my right shoulder. BUt then, my wonderful friend and ski buddy Susan Greenhalgh from Vermont showed up to run my last five miles with me. Susan had driven out with her sister Cindy and her parents. The Greenhalgh family recently contributed funds to BPR to provide a well for 20 families. That generous contribution combined with their visit and books Susan has compiled for me of the run brought tears to my eyes. I feel so loved by a very special family. It's a wonderful feeling.
Towards the end of our run, Susan and I were running through the Drumlin Mountains, shaped by the glaciers into upside down teaspoons. This was the description given to them by Susan's teacher when she was growing up in New York state. We finished our run and went to breakfast before Team Green reunited with Taeko and Jason and drove to the home of Mary Chervenak's family for some homecooked eats. Being in Nancy Fullerton's home the other night and now at the Chervenak's evoked discussion about how we had not been in a real home since May and how good it feels. In a week, for most of us, it will be in our own homes.
We are spending the night in Danville, Pennsylvania, before starting the day shift and heading towards Harrisburg. This part of the country has been much like Vermont with its rolling green hills and rivers.
Water is life. Pass it on!
October 25, 2007
Life goes on.....sort of. I’m a different person. I’m struggling with the issue of how to make a living and still keep active in the cause. Water issues surround me.
