The five-mile course is nearly identical to last year. The first mile is uphill on singletrack; some sections may require walking. Mile two is a gradual downhill on gravel roads. Mile three is mostly flat as it skirts Lake Eden and rolls through open fields. Miles four and five are rolling, with the final quarter-mile looping around the camping area and the athlete village, so your teammates can cheer you on to the transition area.

...and incidentally, if it's the same as last year, only the first 1.25 mile or so is on trails- oly a small portion technical. The rest is on gravel road and grass. First mile is pretty brutal, but you make up for it later.
