Sierra Leone - Rainwater Harvesting for 3 Rural Schools

People Impacted:
2,500 school children

Three identified schools of Port Loko District lack safe drinking water and are situated in rural areas where the wells are not working or have impure water quality. This project will create underground rainwater harvesting tanks for these schools that are connected to their rooftops. Safer Future will train the community on how the tanks function so that the people can maintain them themselves. Committees will be formed to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the tanks.
