24 Miles of altitude above 8000', mountains, fresh air, an incredible team and a run to my training grounds for the last two summers combined to make it one of the best 2007 Blue Planet Run days for me. My initial plan of running 10 miles towards Vail from Camp Hale had a two mile climb up 2000' at the very end and this 10 miles was completed in 1:00:12. You see I didn't plan on the full 24 miles. It ended up that the next team ended up being a little wambazzled from the high altitude in Leadville and ended up taking a wrong highway to the exchange point at the end of my 10 miles. I was more than happy to take on the run to Vail. I have many people in Vail whom I look up to and whom helped look after me during my training there. Darcy, Hap, Nick and Michael...VAC, Ellen, Linda are just a few of the names. Last springs run under the Gondola on Vail mountain have been missed but after the 24 miles I could only look and wish I was staying there for the night to do an ascent the next day. I'll be back!!!
Poem of the Day:
In service blood shed tears fell
We all have had others we had to let be
Even need sometimes to put
Our best thoughts resting
With dedication of our dreams
We let go of our aspirations
and become more because fears let go
And committing to the line
Our preservation lasts only
As long as our will will hope
To be is carved with our intent
embraced challenge we do the only
Thing needed we heal

August 17 - The Wedding
In Kansas running in the 99 degree heat, I ended up getting attacked by two dogs but was able to yell at them enough to keep them at bay until our exchange point vehicle came by.
