The day started off great...and close, with an impromptu exchange point outside the hotel in Stratton, CO, population 650. The lady at the front desk of the hotel got so excited talking to runners the night before, that she went around calling everyone she knew to come show their support at 9:30am! Emmanuel talked to a 7 year old girl who lived there and was blown away by the knowledge that the girl already had of the water crisis - apparently, Stratton itself is suffering from a shortage of water.
Shiri ran with Zach, a local boy on a bike, and David, a guest runner and the coach of the Runner's Edge Running Club. Will, a new Team Silver member (having switched teams with David the day before,) ran third with Jodi Johnson, also from Runner's Edge, who coincidentally works for Water for People and had a lot of water knowledge to share. Will and Jodi had a great run, supported in large part by her kids, Sara and David, who came out to cheer their mom on! Mary ran with Ned Breslin, Director of International Programs with Water for People, and the organizer of all the guest runners throughout Colorado. Ned ran with Mary up until the CO/KS border, about 6 miles in. The runners would like to give a huge, huge thank you to all of the guest runners, and especially to Ned for helping get the people out and running with them! Team Silver writes, “As the roads are getting straighter, the scenery more unvarying, and the heat more stifling, having the awesome company of guest runners is definitely helping to motivate and push us all through these miles of miles.”
