Students from the Global Run Program

Blue Planet Run 2007: Day 1 | New York City

At the ceremony in New York City launching the Blue Planet Run 2007, school teacher Jody Kennedy and the students from her Global Run program presented a check for $3,417 to the Blue Planet Run water fund. The students raised the money through their Fashion for a Cause fashion show fundraiser.

Later in the Fall, eighth graders walked with buckets of water on their heads around the grounds of Eastview Middle School in White Plains. The goal was to raise awareness about the lack of clean drinking water in the world and support of the Millennium development goals set forth by the United Nations. This activity is one of many interdisciplinary projects included in The Global Run, a model that engages students in learning about relevant global issues, provides opportunities for cultural awareness and educates them how to become active global citizens.
